Attorney Christopher J. Ross Secures NJ Supreme Court Win

The Vigilante Law Firm proudly congratulates Attorney Christopher J. Ross on his victory today before the New Jersey Supreme Court.

Chris zealously represented our client, who was sued in late 2021—nearly two years after allegedly making statements the plaintiff claimed were defamatory. Because the statute of limitations for defamation in New Jersey is one year, the plaintiff attempted to bypass it by filing a claim for false light invasion of privacy.

The central question in the case was whether a false light claim is also subject to a one-year statute of limitations. After prevailing at both the Law Division and the Appellate Division, Chris successfully defended the case before the New Jersey Supreme Court, which affirmed that the one-year statute of limitations does apply.

We are incredibly proud of Chris and the entire team for their unwavering dedication, focus, and advocacy—qualities we bring to every matter we handle on behalf of our clients.
